Grief and Loss

The cup beside the bedside,
The kiss at morning’s start,
The quiet drives together—
These are the pieces of my heart.

The warmth of your hand in mine,
The scent of you in the air,
The shoes still by the doorway,
As if you’re waiting there.

And they tell me, “Remember the good times,
The laughter, the joy you shared.”
But those words can’t fill the silence
Of a world without you here.

For it’s not the grand occasions
That carve the deepest scars,
But the countless, tiny moments
That made you who you are.

I know a day will come,
When the ache will gently fade,
When I can walk the path we took,
And drive the roads we made.

But for now, the cup will stay,
The shoes remain untouched.
These small reminders of you
Are helping me so much.

So I’ll hold on a little longer,
Keep these treasures near,
Until I feel the strength to face
The days without the fear.

For now, your little things
Fill the empty space you left,
And one day, I’ll let them go—
But today, I need them yet.
